Exmoor National Park

West Somerset Railway – tourist line
Bishops Lydeard to Minehead with stations to hop on and off along the way. The nearest to Roadwater is Washford station.

Places to visit

Cleeve Abbey, Washford – free entry for local residents

Cistercian abbey, said to contain the finest cloister buildings in England.

Dunster Castle and Watermill, Dunster

Ancient castle with gardens and working watermill in a spectacular location.

Pitt Mill, Roadwater Mineral Line

Produces hand-made rag watercolour papers for artists in an ancient watermill. Visitors are welcome but should call to arrange – 01984 641048.

There is also an outlet at East Quay, Watchet, where visitors are also welcome.

Torre Cider Farm

Family friendly, including play area and farm animals that children can feed.

Tropiquaria, Washford

Zoo and animal sanctuary, including Reptile Hall, Nocturnal House and Aquarium, children’s play area and café.
